We are delighted to announce a new Swim Together partnership with Freedom Leisure at Guildford Spectrum Leisure Centre. The partnership will see the launch of a new Swim Together peer support group in the Guildford area, supporting local people living with mental ill health.
The aim of Swim Together is to create a peer support model that brings people together who are living with mental illness, or experiencing mental health challenges, for a swim in an indoor pool. The model echoes the successful Mental Health Swims peer support model, which brings people together outdoors to experience outdoor swimming.
Chris Sexton, Guildford Area Healthy Communities Manager for Freedom Leisure said “We are thrilled to be working with Mental Health Swims to offer these supportive swim sessions at Guildford Spectrum. We believe in the power of community and movement to support mental wellbeing. This partnership allows us to provide a safe, welcoming space for people to connect and feel supported through swimming.”
Guildford Spectrum will soon be announcing the dates for their Swim Together sessions. In the meantime, if you would like to find out more or register for a session, please email: hcguildford@freedom-leisure.co.uk
